The LeMay family prominent members of Tacoma for 30 years and, the world’s largest car collectors are the impetus for this project and are the major donators.
The Museum is planned to be a place of celebration, a venue for car shows, auctions, club and corporate gatherings, even music festivals. The Museum campus will consist of a six acre Show Field, storage for 1,000 cars, retail and dining “mall,” and interactive exhibits, as well as an education and restoration center.
The City of Tacoma has donated a wonderful site valued at $17,500,000 for the Museum adjacent to the downtown just off Interstate 5 near the Tacoma Dome.
The projected completion of the museum is somewhere in the 2010-2011 time frame and will be a major attraction for the city of Tacoma.
